Hoax: Wobbler-Virus (California)
angeblicher E-Mail-Virus mit unglaublichen Fähigkeiten
Wieder mal eine falsche Warnung, hier eine Mixtur aus verschiedenen, bereits bekannten Hoaxes und einem neuen Namen. Ein Bezug zu einem schon länger bekannten Virus (bzw. Scherzprogramm, Joke) ähnlichen Namens besteht nicht!
Originaltext (dt.):
Virus WOBBLER trifft per E-Mail mit Titel "CALIFORNIA" ein. IBM und AOL haben mitgeteilt, dass dieser Virus praktisch "tödlich" ist, schlimmer als mit Virus MELISSA. Virus CALIFORNIA löscht alle in der Festplatte gespeicherten Informationen, zerstört Netscape, Navigator und Microsoft Internet Explorer. Keine Post mit diesem Titel öffnen. Bitte diese Information auch an alle Bekannten, Mitarbeiter usw. weitergeben, die per E-Mail arbeiten. Bisher sind wenige über diesen Virus informiert; daher bitte so schnell wie möglich alle anderen auch informieren.
Es handelt sich hierbei um eine Falschmeldung!
Sie tritt seit Sommer 2000 häufig zusammen mit dem uralten Win A Holiday Hoax auf.
Varianten: Gleicher Text, aber der Titel der Mail soll

FORWARD bzw. California/IBM lauten.
Originaltext (engl.):
Subject: Warning VIRUS WARNING a new Virus - WOBBLER is on the loose.
It will arrive on e-mail titled "How to Give a Cat a Colonic".
[ Variante: Title 'California' ]
IBM and AOL have announced that it is very powerful, more so than Melissa.
There is no remedy. It will eat all your information on the hard drive
and also destroys Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer.
Do not open anything with this title and please pass this message on
to all your contacts and anyone who uses your e-mail facility. Not
many people seem to know about this yet so propagate it as fast as
possible. This information was announced yesterday morning by IBM.
Please share it with everyone in your address book so that the
spreading of the virus may be stopped. Thia is
a very dangerous Virus and there is no remedy for it at this time.
Please practice cautionary measures and forward this to all your
online friends A.S.A.P.

Je transmets l'information que j'ai reçu : IBM et AOL viennent d'annoncer l'arrivée d'un nouveau virus WOOBLER. Il arrive sur un email intitutlé "How to Give a Cat a Colonic". IBM et AOL ont averti qu'il s'agissait d'un virus bien plus puissant que Melissa et qu'il n y avait pas encore de remède connu. Ce virus détruit toutes vos informations sur le disque dur, et donc également Microsoft Internet Explorer et Nescape Navigator. Nouvrez rien avec ce titre et faites passer ce message à tous vos contacts. Il ne semble pas que de nombreuses personnes soient encore au courant, alors diffusez l'information aussi vite que possible. Cette information a été annoncé dimanche 26 Mars par IBM. Transferez ce message à tous vos contacts et ce le plus rapidement possible.
